buzz noise from the supercharger
To all you vortech owners,i was just wondering if you get a buzzing/vibration from the supercharger between 2k and 2.5k.I've had this noise/vibration for quite sometime now especially in the am when the car is cold and from time to time when the car is warm.I used a stethoscope and the noise is coming from the charger itself.I loosened all of the mounting bolts and retorqued them again and adjusted the belt and the vibration improved but is still there but only at that 2-2.5k range. The charger only has 6k on it and ive had no trouble or leaks with it.Any help would be great thanks!
I can't say mine is any louder than before. It whines at idle with the hood closed. Sounds like loose gravel is in the case with the hood open. The Gravel sound goes away after increasing RPM to take up the basklash in the gear case.
you aren't hearing the aftercooler pump running are you?

No,its not the normal cement mixer noise it sounds EXACTLY like a bad exhaust buzz only its coming from the supercharger. You have to blip the throttle and it will only make this buzz noise at 2-2.5k.After that you wont here it again until the revs drop down to that 2k range. Its almost like a resonating sound. The noise is much more evident when the car is cold but once warm it doesn't happen as frequently.
Mine gets a harmonic convergence at exactly 2000 rpms and it decreases as it warms up. It is very loud and caused considerable concern on my part initially.
I try to avoid that rpm until the engine is fully warmed up.
