how do i know if the rattle from my blower is normal or not?

I have read posts saying that it is common for vortech sc blowers to make rattling noise, but mine sounds quite bad.

It makes a rhythmical rattle when idling. grr .. grr .. grr .. grr .. maybe 1 second interval between each noise.

It is not so audible from the cabin, but when the hood is up, its quite loud.

My mates who have heard says hey your blower is dying, maybe oil isn't fed properly, etc...

To what point is this rattling /grinding noise normal??

 

I love the noise mine makes, I also took the little filter off my blow off valve and it made it louder a bit. I got a mini diesel engine under the hood!

 

Mine is pretty noisey at idle and more so when cold but after cruising around for a while its a little less noisey. I've seen a few on Youtube vids and they're noisey too. Oh yeah the Comptech manual actually mentions the idle noise so I wouldbnt be too concerned.

 

My vortech makes the same noise, and it is on and off every second or so. I thought it was oil starved, but I have learned to love the sound.

 

i've heard a vortech in person that sounded unhealthy but was told that was how it's supposed to sound. comptechs sound similar but imo not as questionable as the vortechs.
