O'Malley:

would you update this thread periodically after a few thousand miles or so for future people to reference? With all the gasket debate that was on this forum and soooo many opinions on how to do what, a list of what was done and how it has held up would be nice. a few others, including myself, have done the same and you can be a new "stat" too.

greg: pm me breh.

Yeah forsure man. I'm not really afraid of posting that up. My ip 3mm and my sce 2mm with arps done to spec didnt hold up more than 5k miles. Nothing catastrophic just showed signs of a bit of white smoke at startup and then it would clear. You could still beat on the car with no issues.

Both times when I threw those in all I did was remove any gunk with the razor blade and alcohol and throw it back together.

I'm hoping with the flatter head, better studs and oem gasket I won't be pulling the head anytime soon! Time will tell. I'm going to push this thing pretty hard! I have a very very low mileage ap1 engine that's begging to go in

I'll do the same since I used the proper lube and tq spec and no copper spray this time around. I already bought another hg in case lol.

^cool. so far(dont wish to jynx anyone) those who have used a thicker gasket, experienced leakage, and went back to oem have been problem free. well, problem free from any HG leaking issues i should say.

I too ran a cometic 2mm for a while, and while the only issue i noted was a C-rated leakdown, i went back to oem when i sold my turbo setup and have terrific compression and a stellar leakdown rate and it has remained that way for almost 30k so far.
