Default cam chain sprocket bolt

hey guys i was installing my 3mm headgasket and i managed to put everything back together, but when it came to installing the cam chain sprocket bolt, the bolt would only go in partway. i turned it a little bit more and i noticed the beginnings of shavings so i immediately stopped.

i read somewhere that it might be because the collar and the idler gear seized due to lack of oil

what is the remedy for this?
(bolt circled in green is the bolt im talking about)

(this is not my car, i borrowed a pic from the site because i couldnt find my camera)

cross thread maybe? Was the bolt hard to remove in the first place? Has it been removed before and over torqued?

yeah, if you have tension on the cam chain right now that is your problem, there shouldnt be any tension on that bolt or it will try to cross-thread.

I would try to screw the bolt in w/o the gear and chain, all by itself, before attempting to screw it in w/ the other hardware to see if you got clean threads.

With the 3mm gasket, the chain tension is pretty snug and you have to make sure you get that bolt in straight.
