yes. it's plugged into the factory harness.
Then your first post confuses me.

"the red wire from the aem ems is connected to the 'ignition' slot under the fuse panel and i needed that spot for the radar detector...so i used a t-tap on the aem ems red wire and tried starting up the car. my detector works. great. so t-tap worked."

What wire did you really tap. The EMS doesn't plug into the fuse box?

I was being silly. the red wire that i tapped into wasn't the wire coming from the EMS, but from the boost gauge. the red wire was bundled with the 5000 other wires connecting to the EMS so i just sort of assumed

since i tapped into the gauge wire, the gauge was throwing off the 'warning' light. it just needed to be reset. evidently, when the gauge senses or loses some voltage it requires a reset.

since stock ECU started the car, we decided to run the stock map on the EMS since it'll connect to the computer. the car started with stock map. Then, we tried again with the custom tuned map (the one that was working prior to my 'tapping') and the car fired up. Neither of us can figure out why switching out the maps yesterday didn't start the car, but did today...but im not complaining. The car is running a bit lean and i won't be seeing vtec anytime soon until i get the new exhaust put on and getting it retuned.

The EMS plugs directly into the factory harness. no soldering, no ground, no fuse...plug and play.

it's a good night tonight since the car fired up with the AEM EMS and with the correct map.

Might have just been a little hick up that just needed the map to be reloaded. Who knows
