Default Clutch for FI

Hello fellow S2000 FI'ers,

Thanks to the Shawn and the good fellows at Church Automotive,
I have finally gotten my 06 w/Greddy Turbo S2000 properly tuned and running well now. Unfortunately I have found that under hard acceleration I get some slippage going from 1rst to 2nd. IDK if it is slipping in any other gear and have not noticed it. Normal driving it drives fine. I fear that my clutch is no longer up to par with the added power/torque and will just start to degrade the more "Fun" I have.

I am looking for advice and experience to what clutch ( parts or kits ) people are having good results with and why they prefer it.

I prefer a stock pedal feel or as close to it as I can get. Call me a wuss but I'm getting older and the leg muscle ain't what they use to be.

Any advice is appreciated. ( There are 2 that I have been looking real hard at and if there is anyone who has them installed please share. The OS Giken Super Single and Exedy Hyper Single )

How much torque are you making and can you share your dyno plot?

The two clutches you mentioned IMO are overkill and more money spent then what is needed. Get the SOS sport clutch

Your going to HATE both of those clutches. I would stay away from ANY pucked clutch style clutch, they are horrible to drive.

Yes I have one and HATE it. (Competition clutch stage 4)

SOS sports clutch is stock like and enough for the greddy kit.
Just keep in mind that if you want to go to a bigger kit in the future the clutch wont hold pass 250wtq.

Here is my suggestions:

The next step is to determine the weight of the flywheel you want to go with.

As the weight goes down the clutch gets harder to manipulate on start up, in traffic, on hills, etc.
The engine goes from idle to red line quicker with the decreased mass.

I am driving an 8 pound flywheel combined with 3.90 gears so I can really feel it. It's still fun to drive and manageable.

There are several lightweight flywheels available. I went with the Comptech unit made out of steel. Most brands are aluminum.

As far a clutches (pressure plate) the ACT is hard to beat and rated to about 370ft lbs torque IIRC. The new model has factory pedal pressure.

Use the ACT or factory disk.

Get rid of the limiter valve in the slave cylinder if you have not already.

Bypass the clutch lockout so you can start the car without pushing the clutch. It's simple to do. Pull the connector off the clutch switch (the top switch on the clutch shaft) and insert a short looped piece of wire into the two recepticals.

Just make sure it is in neutral before hitting the start button.

That's what I would do.

Oh yea, nice numbers.

Clutch and fltwheel price are seprate on any website. I think you can only get combo special price from vendors.

I had a good experience with ACT clutch/flywheel(it was on other car but I had no problem at 380tq). Also I've read many good reviews about OS giken thru other car forums but not many reviews on s2k tho. OS giken will cost more than ACT but I would like to try those in future. Exedy...umm I'm not big fan of that company.

I have the Exedy Hyper Single. It holds the power and torque fine, but is a pig to drive. I'm also in the process of replacing my diff and some think this is in part because of the harshness of my clutch.
