Default Clutch Suggestions

I plan on making somewhere around 450-500hp tops to the wheels. I know clutches are rated by torque rather then whp, but idk how much torque to be expecting.

I am currently rocking a Competition Clutch stage 5.
Stupidly when I bought this clutch I still had the B-series state of mind. Lots of clutches I had on my old hatch never held, except for the CC5 and when my stock went out on the S, I figured Ill be boosting soon and Ill get a CC5. Well I have about 6k miles on my CC5 and I absolutely hate it. Its one of those on/off switch clutches. Going out of town to Houston is near impossible for me. In traffic it is the worst clutch to use, and has given nothing me but problems. Not to mention the clutch engagement is as harsh as can be.. When i'm sleepy in the morning going to school, I sometimes manage to stall it.. rofl.. I mean seriously, this clutch setup chirps every freaking gear.. I haven't tried 6th gear but I know for a fact it'll chirp 5th with ease. Thats just stupid.. My car is stock (although I had spray at the time of the clutch install)

I enjoy my S2k as much as the next person reading this, its an awesome freaking car! But this clutch just makes it uncomfortable to drive. Sometimes I seriously dont want to drive the S because of it. Thats not something I want, I want to be able to enjoy driving it again! HELP ME!! haha

With the stock clutch my gf would drive my car and enjoy the car as much as i did. Now she simply refuses to even press the clutch in. Keep in mind shes only 100lbs 5ft 3in.. yeah typical asian girl haha. dont ask for pics.. rofl.

Anyways.. yeh i searched but couldnt find a definite answer.
Some people have said to use one of ACTs PP and the stock clutch disk, I dont really like the thought of using a stock disc.
I saw that SOS came out with a new clutch that is supposed to be like OEM pedal feel with much more holding power. Does anybody have any experience with those clutches yet? But its also pretty expensive at $675.
I've read good things about other CC clutches such as stage 2-3-4 but never about the stage 5 haha.

If there is a way to either retain my pp or my clutch disk and switch to another pp or disk as a cheaper alternative to fix my problem please let me know. I rather just replace one part for half the price of buying a whole pp/disk set up again unless I have to.

Definitely shot my self in the foot by not researching this the first time, but we live and learn.

Any input is greatly appreciated. Anybody else have an SO that drives their S2k from time to time and has a friendly clutch?

I have the ACT HD full setup and its holding up good so far. Dunno how much longer it will last but we'll see.

When its time for another one, I'll look in the SOS kits. Their description of the stage 1 or whatever its called (the one not made out of carbon lol) makes it sound perfect for my goals.

Don't let your SO drive your car when its boosted. Girls can't drive. And I mean that in the most sexist way possible.

not to be a dick but that SOS stage 1 will not hold 500whp. its rated at 300ft lbs TQ flywheel. which they admit is more like 255wtq.

keep the CC stage 5 if you want to make that kinda power. if your more inclined to make 400whp, thats about the llimit of that SOS stage 1.

shit i make 230 wtq on a dynodynamics and i am only 332 whp and thats nearing the top of that clutch.

it sucks but with the kinda power your looking at, twin disc or puck clutch is kinda your only option.

though, a clutchmasters stage 3 might do you good, and thats still a disc. thats what i run and i think its rated to 350 or 400flywheel tq.

ROFL, I knew that was coming ahha thats why I said dont ask.
I'll pull a picture up later tonight if I can get a few more suggestions haha.

Does anybody know the diff between the CC stage 3 and the CC5 that I currently have? Obviously the power capabilities are different, but is that in the disk its self or the PP? If the PP is the same, then I'll try to find the disk alone.

trust me she wont be driving it alone, far or in heavy traffic rofl.

I let her make little trips no more then 5 miles, and sometimes a little trip on some back roads. She definitely wont be driving the car without me in it or be allowed to get into boost much/at all till she gets used to driving the car again.

Its just a thought though. If its not at all possible to find a clutch that isn't a PITA to drive, for her and i both, then i'll rock the CC5 till it dies, and she can just get used to it or stay riding shotgun. haha.

Keep some suggestions coming though.

The ACT HD with the street disc is capable of holding 380tq which i believe is in your WHP range of 450-500 depending on which turbo kit you go with.
