so go to get my car tuned today and my tuner goes to start my car, and he said it sounded funny...he decide to do a compression test before we start tuning and what you know #1-200....#2-200.....#3-175!!!!...and #4 -200....he said it is more then likely the rings...could this be the problem and how much do new ones goes for?

Lets see they're about $3500.

Most likely if the ring has gone it scored the cylinder wall and well...

at 175 vs 200 that is probably one good score mark I would guess. I only say this because I just tore down a motor with almost the exact same differential and that's what I found. You can replace the rings, and the mtoor will be "fine", but the blowby will cause other issues.

To replace the rings, the piston has to come out, and that only happens from the top of the engine. AKA you remove the head. Just wanted to let you know what your into. Sorry.

If the rings have gone, they scratch the FRP inpregnated bores, that have a very small service range. If you've lost considerable compression, the bores are probably toast, which means a whole new block! Hence the 3500!

You might be able to save the block, but you'll have to pull apart the block to change them out!
