Competition Twin Disc Clutch
If I was seriously racing the car I would buy either the Compitition or the SOS twin but since this is for the street I am going to stick with a street clutch. I nearly pulled the trigger on the Centerforce but the price is way to high, then looked at the F1 but I don't know the brand. So I ended up going the tried and true ACT Heavy duty pressure plate, OEM Clutch Disc and ACT Streetlite flywheel. I don't think the flywheel will do much but S2000442 is making more torque with his setup than I could with the AP1 flywheel so I figured what the hey.
Some of my Porsche guys suggested I go Carbonetics twin. Spoke with them today and their approach is rather unique and they are very aware of need to clamp yet minimize driveline shocks. I have decided to go that route over the Tilton which while I love it does shock the driveline with its extremely low rotational mass as well as being toggle switch like. Tilton probably is the better clutch for the drag race set but for road and roadracing I am now convinced Carbonetics is the way to go and affordably. We'll be carrying these going forward especially as they are working on BMW apps.
For those of you that have had a pucked clutch in your car. How bad is it really? All noises aside as I expect a bit more noise out of an aftermarket clutch, is there anything about the s2000 specifically that makes them harder/worse to drive than say a civic with that type of clutch?
Ik its certainly more harsh than stock as far as engagement but with a bit more throttle modulation I have never really been bothered by it. My last car (ef hatch) had a cable trans and unsprung 6 puck and while it was harsh and on/off, after I learned it, it felt normal too me. I would think adding a sprung disc and hydraulic engagement would make things a bit better.
1:Be honest....is it really THAT bad?
2: Was your s2000 your first experience owning/driving a pucked clutch?

I have the clutc hmasters 850 twin in my 07. It has a nice engagement. You don't have any hydraulic throw out bearing to worry about and mine is quiet. Like I said it is proven down to a 9.90.
I have the CC stage 4 / stock flywheel and the chattering is only bad when it's in the new/breaking in phase. After a 1000 miles or so it feels fine to me. The only thing that hasn't changed is the someone on/off switch and I've been daily 400wtq for a year 1/2. My next clutch will be the CC twin for sure.
