Default Comptech +aftercooler

I am soon going to purchase a supercharger from comptech and i was wondering if the aftercooler provides any benefits other than the cooling potential with higher boost. On the stock comptech pulley is there any benefit. Also i had convinced myself that the ac probably made the boost safer on the engine, is that true? help a FI newbie out

Not conclusive, but I was running Comptech SC at 8lbs with no aftercooler for some time including track days. I was using E-manage and injectors for safe tuning though.

OK i figure that the main benifit of the aftercooler is obviosly to cool the intake charge that would be more benificial on a higher boost application.

If you have the funds to get one, I would. Even with 6psi. The cooler it runs, the better it is for the motor and for the power.

I would highly recommend any sort of intercooler when you purchase a FI kit. There will be a less chance of detenation if the intake temp is cooler and also more power can be extracted.

Eh, really depends what your doing. If your going to heavily track the car get the AC (aftercooler on this thing I believe). If your going to up the boost, get the AC. If you live in death valley... get the picture?

Otherwise don't bother. The HP gains aren't all that spectacular unless your going to mod it further, as you loose close to 1psi of boost give or take from the AC. The cooler charge DOES make the power back and a little more, but not enough to justify 800-1000 bucks. The only reason comptech even put a AC on their kit was to because Vortech put one on theirs. The orginal kit didn't have one if I remember correctly

So... should you get AC? Depends on what you plan and to some extent where you live.

Since the AC causes a pressure loss, is it possible to change the SC pully to get the same pressure at the AC output, WITHOUT going to a more sophistocated EMS, larger injectors, etc.?
