Default Comptech SC Longevity

Have any of you long time Comptech S/C guys have to rebuild your Novi Paxton 1000 blower yet? I haven't had any luck finding the longevity of the s/c unit itself. CT-Engineering told me it's pretty much a lifetime blower with no maintenance needed and I couldn't get a hold of Paxton. The blower I'm looking at has a little oil seepage coming out of the inlet and outlet. Some say it's normal, but I'd rather re-build it if necessary before installing it and taking it back off. Generally what kind of mileage is the unit good for before a major service/rebuild?

Also is increased oil consumption normal? Say a quart every 3,000 miles?

If it's already out, I would just rebuild it for the peace of mind especially if it's used.

Right but the rebuild is about $500+ bucks which significantly increases the overall cost of the kit. If it's normal and doesn't need a re-build I'm not going to do it.

I'm looking for actual owners that have high mileage to get feedback if they have any oil seepage and have rebuilt their blowers.

By reading this I gather you are not yet supercharged but you are looking at purchasing one; is that correct?

Does your engine consume oil now?

I have a Paxton 1000 on my MY04 and the blower has 12,500 miles on it now. I am generally not friendly to it either. lol I auto x the car...track it...and I can be rather aggressive with it at times on the street.

I know that doesn't seem like a significant amount of miles but it is not showing any signs of needing a rebuild. I think the only recommendation I saw from a fellow CT'er was 25k miles do a rebuild. I don't know...I guess when I start to lose oil or notice a problem with mine, I will rebuild it then.

Correct, not supercharged yet but came across a great deal from a friend and thinking about jumping on the bandwagon for a little extra power in my daily driver. Current original motor consumes a little oil as most MY00's do. I'd guess less than a quart every 3,000 miles. The blower has considerable mileage on it (in the neighborhood of 50,000 miles). Comptech seems to think they run forever without needing a rebuild.

Thanks I gave him a call and he said it's probably ok to not rebuild it but it's around $250 to do the seals so it doens't leak any oil for cheap insurance.
