Default comptech sc questions..

i just installed my comptech supercharger (with one hand, my right is broken)
i have not yet installed my esm or fuel pump.
i started it up anyway. no driving, just wanted to hear it.

after a second or two i hear this crazy supersonic high-pitched whine.
no metallic grinding, no cement sounds, just the normal whine and the superhigh pitched whine.

not just the normal whine, i know that sound.
i seriously dobut the belt is slipping, i retightened it twice.

i popped off the filter, restarted. i gently placed my hand over the tube, started sucking my hand in, but not to the point of stalling. the whine goes away.

i thought maybe it was my bypass valve. pulled that off the tube.
put my hand back over the filer, so air was pulling in the bypass location.
noise persists.

i let the car sit for a bit, and restarted. whine is gone... 5 seconds later its back.
it stays with the blip of the throttle.

i completely remove the intake tube so its open turbine.
sounds like the whine is from within.

any ideas?

Is the sound coming from the engine bay? if not it could be your fuel pump, it may be overworking if you havent changed it, but even the walbro will whine. Mine does

First of all, PLEASE...DO NOT ATTEMPT to install the fuel pump or ESM with one hand! Believe me I needed four... Neither is all that complicated...but both are a PITA to get to. Trust me...you will need both hands.

Second, I have the exact same sound as you. Mine has never made cement mixer or grinding sounds. Just a low then high pitch whine. Other then the high pitched whine, my Comptech is so quiet that I was actually accused of switching it with a Vortech blower...

BTW...You may want to double check and make sure you didn't overtighten the charger belt. It's very hard on the bearings.

if hes not boosting (keeps revs below 4000 rpm) the fuel pump isnt working any harder than normal.

No idea, maybe a leak as its sucking in air. did you check all the clamps? those are sometimes a pain to get right. When i put mine on it looked fine from the top but then noticed that i completely missed it on the bottom.
