The high pitch is NORMAL when it is cold. (Kinda pierces your ear doesnt it)
Drive it for ten minutes and it will be a lot quieter. My Comptech/Paxton makes the exact same sound.

FYI I switched to the AP2 pulley and now my charger sounds totally different. Definitely has the classic "rocks in a can" sound due to the higher charger spped now at idle.

These things are just noisy.

it doesnt go away.
it switches between the super high pitch and the "chirping bird" sound.

what does a bearing replacement involve?

shipping the blower back to comptech.

but you have to pinpoint where the noise is coming from first.maybe a soundclip might help us.

have you heard a comptech before in person?

I have a Vortech and i have heard a few before i installed mine so i knew what it was suppose to sound like.

peace

Its a high pitch chirping that you hear at idle for the first couple of minutes when its cold. Mine use to do it a lot when I first put my charger on, but it doesnt really do it anymore. (At least I dont notice it anymore with the AP2 pulley.)

When I first put my charger on, it was so loud I could barely hear my friend talk next to me with the hood open.

BTW my charger had just been rebuilt by Paxton 5K miles before this. No sign of oil whatsoever and there is absolutely zero slop in the pulley/shaft on the charger.

You need to complete the install and drive the car for a while IMO and then see what happens after ayou put some miles on it.

i know on the vortech the air pump hose that used to recycle air is it left unhooked and is stuff with a filter element, is that pump unhooked on yours? on initial start up i hear that whine, and when i blimp on the throttle it goes away, then once idle it comes back again.
