Default Comptech sc rebuild diy

Well traced my oil leak to the intake side of my novi 1000,oil was leaking out onto the crossmember, filling airbox and slight oil in the aftercooler, it seemed to directly leak from where the intake tract meets the blower.

Just wondering if...

1. How is easy is a diy rebuild? I can get access to an impact wrench, press etc.

2. What bits am I likley to need, bearings etc

3. Can i just remove the blower and leave mounting plate?

4. Anyone have any parts numbers and what bits i should buy?

5. Any tips or anything else I should know? And how long would it take to complete the job.

I think it's the inner shaft?

Thanks

1. If you have proper tools and some mechanical skill then it isn't out of the question.

2. Major serviceable parts are seals (2) and bearings (4). I don't remember if it is input or output shaft seal, but you could have 1 of 2 different seals depending on how old your blower is.

3. I removed the whole bracket, I don't think you can pull the blower by itself but I could be wrong.

4. There was a big thread about this where someone was trying to source part numbers which was almost impossible. Superchargerrebuilds.com sells a kit that consists of bearings and seals. He would probably sell the seals separately if that is all you need.

5. It's hard to say, I just fought my way through. The way everything presses together is probably the hardest part. You need some sort of "sleeve" to keep the seal from tearing on the shaft when it presses together.

Some good reading:

"'it seemed to directly leak from where the intake tract meets the blower""

That oil depsit may not be the blower, If the oil is coming from the intake side of the blower where the engine tube conects to the air filter box/element tube then it could mean blowby oil from the engine. If thats the case you should do a compresion test and get some sort of catch can setup.

I want to do this also, I have 70k on my blower. it seems to have a very small leak by the oil return that drips over the crossmember. I might only need to re-thread the piece that comes out the blower to the oil pan. Runs fine other than that

Thanks guys.

Thunderrush - very unlikely as the car is running fine and no smoke.

Rossoce - I have ordered that kit, thanks. Hopefully I'll be set.

1nate7, thanks for your info. I have ordered a rebuild kit from 928 motorsports, seems like a good kit. http://www.928motorsports.com/parts/...ebuild_kit.php

I notice superchargerrebuilds.com sell a 'front cover o ring' anyone idea of the sizes?
