Hi guys,
I don't really see the point to get a supercharger for our beloved Honda S2000. I mean, I am not so insecure to need a supercharger to get into my sportsbar and tell my porsche buddies that now their boxsters can only eat my dust and their 911s are doomed to a similar end (most of 'em, anyway).
Let's face it: nobody truly needs a supercharger to let a S2000 do slightly (and I mean slightly) better what it already does so good:
what I would like to get from a supercharger is right this:
A) get at least a second faster to 100 kmh (62 mph), not 0,1 secs........
B) get an extra 100NM of max torque way under 6000 rpm
C) get at least 35 kmh more (22mph) of topspeed
if you take a look at technical details of such cars as MB Slk 32 k amg (354hp) you will notice that this car reaches 62 mph in 5,2 secs with an auto gearbox, this means that any S2000 with a similar power and the best manual gearbox in the world (we all agree on that I hope!) should do way better than that hopeless chassis from MB......
My point is quite simple, guys, and it reflects my philosophy: what Mother Nature did so well should be kept untouched.
The Honda S2000 is such a perfect example for what I just said.

With total respect of all your opinions

Sincerely Yours

as71, in a lot of ways, I agree with what you just said (as it applies to many who get and have these). Certainly for those who need to have "bragging rights" in a bar, this is the way to go, as immature as it is. (This part, I know you injected in for humour but...) If Mother Nature truly gave birth to a car, then you are absolutely correct, but it is only and simply, a mechanical thing that other humans spawned. And for many, there is always a temptation to change and make different (if not "better").
I'm not one of those who needs the bragging rights nor am I one who needs that extra bit of top speed. (I'll never even get close to it nor do I plan on going from one stop light to the next as fast as I can.) I like to "tinker" with things, especially mechanical devices. I was of the original thought that a S/C was not in my "to do" list but weighing all factors at the time (price was the main thing in my case), I took the leap. I viewed the S/C as a giant, complex model kit, something to have fun putting together. The final outcome is secondary and that's why I'm doing it over several months. I'm not that eager to have it finished. It's in the "doing" and besides, the extra "kick in the pants" won't be too "unentertaining", either. I didn't do it to go out and "beat" a whole bunch of other cars or to "show off". I did it for me.
You used the term "beloved car". That's where you and I differ. To me, it's just a car - a really neat car. BUT, I could part with it in a heart beat if something else suited my fancy. And for now, a S/C'd S2000 suits my fancy.

Go with nitrous . My brother has a 75 shot in his "S" and he makes supercharged S2000's look like they are standing still!

sure it does.... for about 5 seconds.

stopping every lap to refill the bottle would be time consuming and very expensive....
