comptech supercharger install question
hi everyone, i did a quick search and couldn't find what i need. here's the story:
i bought a used comptech supercharger kit with aftercooler. it's been installed, with headers, exhaust, and throttle body on the car. once the install was complete, took out for a test run and it made no power, lots of black smoke, really loud backfire, and shot flames. after that, i got a fuel pressure gauge, and it read 38 psi, so i bumped it up to 45. it runs a little bit better, but not great. this is a bolt on kit, and it should run fine stock, with no tune, and that's all i want right now. any ideas how to make this run better?
it came with an esm box which i was told was only used for high boost so i didn't install it. should that be installed?
thanks everyone

The ESM needs to be hooked up, it tricks the ECU from seeing boost. As far as I know, you should not run the kit without the ESM hooked up (unless you are running K-Pro, AEM, etc. for engine management).
