Default Comptech Supercharger Questions

Hi

I'm new to superchargers, so please don't flame me.

My ultimate goal is to be able to run mid to high 11 second 1/4 miles. Well actually I just want to pull on vipers, Z06's and Cobras. How much boost would I need to run on a comptech s/c to accomplish this goal?

What extra parts would I need, and how much would all the parts and tuning cost (not counting labor to install everything)? I'm just looking for an estimate on how much everything would cost, so just give me the prices in your experience.

Thank You

you would probably need around 11-12 psi pulley, AEM EMS, 750cc injectors, maybe AEM fpr, And lots dyno time. All of this should run about $2500.

Probably closer to $20,000.

Can you give me a brief breakdown on why it would cost that much? Is that $20k counting the supercharger price? I'm assuming the dyno/tuning time is what kills me right?

superchargers are inferior when compared to turbos in the 1/4. This is due to the fact that they don't reach full boost until redline (affects torque curve). You would need a lot of engine work and a head job, while putting down about 500whp. Good luck!

with SC it would be really hard but you can accomplish it with a turbo. before all the aem ems, injectors and pulleys, I would look into a built rear end though

So would doing all this be cheaper overall going with a turbo kit?

Whether you go SC or turbo, it's going to be expensive, but the effeciency of a turbo will work in your favor. In addition to the supercharger/turbocharger, ECU, and tuning costs, you're looking at wheels and tires, clutch upgrade, and maybe other driveline upgrades (though some have gotten remarkable times with stock or near stock drivelines). Depending on who does your tuning you may also want to have a reserve set aside for things like unexpected engine failures.

Riceboi, if you'd driven into CCR and asked this question I'd have had to ask you how much money you wanted to spend. The old maxum that "speed cost money" is absolutely true, and unless you have very deep pockets perhaps you should be asking how quick you can make the car for the money you are willing to spend. Are you really ready to spend $20k-$25k on mods, or do we need to scale back the goals a little?

if all your looking to do is toast covettes. then get your S/C'r installed, with a clutch, exhaust and tuning..... find a C5, non z06 and give it a try
