Default Comtech SC with no AC upgrade

I have reading man threads but could not really get the information I am looking for. May be some of you guys can help. I just want a bolt on setup with out the need to go to the tune shop.
What can I upgrade that does not need tunning beside the Aftercooler? Upgrading the pulley require tunning?
And would I really get extra 15+ rwhp with the AC like comptech advertised?

Thanks,

Out the box you will not have to tune your stock SC kit. Vortech or Comptech for that matter.

If you upgrade to the aftercooler for the Comptech you will not have to tune. You will gain hp due to lower air temps that the AC provides. It also is a good starting point for additional mods.

Anytime you change pulleys from the stock kit you should tune the car due to changes in the fuel/air ratios and the injector requirements. If you don't you will end up most likely on the lean side which will eventually end up in disaster.

Use either the VAFC or Emanage if it applys..but if your going to end up with high boost levels anyway......you might as well just get the AEM EMS so maximize your tune regardless of your boost level..

If you plan on upgrading to smaller pulleys and larger boost.......I recommend that you get the aftercooler.

my .02

I have been running a 7 lbs pulley without the aftercooler for a year now. Just make sure you check a/f to make sure your not running lean in the upper rpm ranges.

Please note that your setup on an 02 S has a different size stock pulley than an 04 and above.

You can tune in a few click from the FPR but it's preferred to use a piggyback system.

The 04 SC for Comptech does not like upgrading smaller pulleys/more boost without going lean.... you need to tune it if you upgrade. This road has been traveled by MY04 owners already...

Too vague... need more info or a link to his setup... a lot of variables could cause it to run lean...

What year is your S? What do you use to control the air/fuel? Did you bring your car to tune shop? Where did you get your pully? How much PSI and horse power do you get from the 7inch pulley?

THanks

I have a 02. I didn't do anything to the air/fuel other than install the pulley and did a dyno run to make sure that it was safe. Normally they said you need to just up the fuel pressure, but on my car I did not need to do so. I don't have the dyno sheet infront of me but I was making around 270ish HP at the wheels on a DynoJet with the stock exhaust.

You can get the pulley and belt from Tech2Drew, there actually a GB going on now for it.

You could buy my AC! It's just sitting in my garage at the moment.
