CORRECTION REVHARD turbo upgrade
My buddy Steve has a modified UR turbo kit.
The manifold had to be remade to accommodate the steering shaft but the turbo is original. I assume it is a Garrett T04E/T3 Custom Spec Turbocharger as per the website unless they have upgraded since his kit was made.
He would like to upgrade the turbo to water cooled ball bearing unit, probably the GT3071.
Assuming the turbo physically fits in the space what else do I need to check? I assume both use the T3 manifold flange. Is the exhaust exit the same or do they vary. I know mine has a V-band connection but also believe this is special order.
I know mine has a 4 inch intake on the compressor so we'll use a reducer initially but have a 4 inch pipe made up. Are the compressor outputs the same size and spacing from the mount?
Any help before we start on this would be great.

The GT3071R should be fairly close in size. It is also available with T3 turbine housings in a variety of sizes. For the compressor, a 4" inlet, 2" outlet is standard, and T04E and T04B housings are available (3" inlet and 2" outlet - slightly smaller overall). Whatever you did to get a V-band turbine housing on your current setup, I HIGHLY recommend doing that on the new setup as well. Those bolts are a HUGE pain.
I had a manifold similar to the Ultimate Racing with a GT3076R. Mine had a T3 turbine housing and the standard 4" inlet 2" outlet GT series compressor housing. It needed a bit of 'massaging' of the engine bay to fit.

Old UR wannabe manifold with GT3076R (0.62 a/r T3 turbine housing)

I never did dyno with that log manifold and turbo. Based on what most logs of that type make, I would have expected 240-290 whp. The lower # on 3.5 psi (that's what the 7# wastegate spring did without a boost controller because of the huge amount of pressure in the log manifold) and closer to 290 with a proper 7-8 psi. Logs just don't make a ton of power and I had to set VTEC very high to keep things interesting. With VTEC set at the stock point, log setups tend to bog a bit. IMO, they really aren't a good match power wise for the motor, although they are quite durable and easy to install.

Bump from the dead,
Well for the record, Rev-hard is a scam artist BS company, I have email records to prove it and I have/had their kit and dealt with them a bit. They lied claiming my turbo was a GT35R when in fact is a SC34..... The lies go on and on and on with them. The nutec5050 might just be some name they invented even, who knows. They lied about numerous things then they avoid call back and try to run and hide, constantly changing contact phone numbers and locations. What a company.....
Logs CAN make good power when they're not made like crap, Pfab's log setup makes 650hp+ for example.
