There are a list of tolerances that can stack and cause both failures.

thats an aluminum drive shaft, I have had both and thats def not the steel one

Explain more?

Looks like the universal joint just popped apart... expected to see something (joint) ripped open.

Are you thinking the case cracked when the universal joint was 'jammed up'? Did the diff pull away/move towards the rear?

That's *very* scary- car could have easily flipped over...at 125mph.

DSS has a lot of horror stories. Another member on here had a failure just on the diff side. There was a lot of carnage including the fuel tank being cut open.

As you can see the loop did not stand a chance, tore the bolt right out of the frame. Looks like i wont be using it again

Would welding the crack actually hold up? Or should I just get a new housing.

damn man this destoryed a lot. Im sorry to see all this damage done to nice car. How expensive would it be to replace? Would a IS300 housing work on this also?
