Default CT SC crank pulley hitting steering rack

*edit*

Shop says that the pulley attached to the crank pulley is barley hitting the steering rack under heavy braking. Anyone hear of this or know how to fix it?

I just installed my comptech for the first time. After I installed it i noticed a loud tapping noise coming from under the hood during braking only. It is like someone is hitting the front of the car with a hammer. The SC idles fine and the car is perfectly fine when cruising, light braking, and it is amazing when accelerating. All I can think of is that something is rubbing under the hood. My only guess so far is that the gforces from heavy braking are pushing the blower onto the front bar that runs across the car. There is little clearance and the drain plug may even be touching even after modifying it. Has anyone else had these issues or has an idea of how to fix it?

thanks

edit

I stuck some padding under the oil plug and it didn't do anything. It sounds almost like it is coming from under the car. It isn't coming from either of the wheels though and it doesn't seem to have anything to do with how the blower or engine are running. The braking is not effected at all and the noise/vibration can easily be controlled with braking pressure.

I've had a CT kit installed for 2 years now and never experienced and issue like this. The fact that you say the noise can be controlled by how hard you brake is strange. It could be completely coincidental or maybe you did not tighten something down. Go over your install with a fine toothed comb.

Did you follow the instructions and bend part of your cross member down so as not to rub on the oil return line? Also, when I installed my CT S/C it made a rubbing sound and thats when I too discovered that my engine mounts were broken. CT S/C puts a lot of added weight on the front of the motor and I am sure you are driving it hard. Just check your engine mounts..

I modified the cross member and it took a lot of modification to get it to fit in there. Also it was very difficult to get the after cooler housing attached to the blower because of the clearance between the crossmember and the blower + after cooler. I had to fight to get the clamp under the blower.

Ill try to take a look at the engine mounts when im off work. Thanks for all the help so far. I really appreciate everyone's help with all the issues I have had during my install.

Brought it in. The crank pulley (well the pulley attached to it) is hitting the steering rack under heavy braking. They said engine mounts appear fine and it just needs to be moved a few mm away. Also, Apparently the bolts holding that pulley on were coming loose but I was just assuming it was because of the vibrations because they were tight when the car started and it started making the noise right away.

Any ideas? they said they would try to mess with it later today when they have time.

Is that even necessary?
