Default CTSC questions

Hey everyone,

I've been wanting to SC my 2005 S for a while and really close to ordering my kit. I live in CA and want to at least start out CARB approved which is a big part of choosing the CT kit. That and the CT guys have been really helpful in answering my questions and putting together a kit for me that meets my needs. For those of you with experience to share please look at my list and tell me what you think.

Stage 1:
CTSC NON self lubricated 1220 compressor
SOS water pump
SOS heat large heat exchanger
SOS sport clutch
SOS Flywheel

Stage2:

AEM EMS
Larger injectors
High boost pulley
tune

My biggest question now is will I be able to get a pulley for more boost? It looks like the SOS pulleys will not fit on the CTSC when running a 1220 blower. Is there another brand? Or should I inquire about getting a 1200 instead of the 1220? Other than that how does this set up look to you guys? Would love any input as I am new to this. Thanks!

Jeff

Hey Jeff!

If you plan on going to stage 2, you can save yourself some money by getting the upgraded heat exchanger now vs. getting a little one and then having to sell it later to get a big one. You can find the front mount heat exchangers at frozenboost.com, for pretty good deals. You will also want to go ahead and get the Bosch water pump. You will not need to upgrade your clutch, unless you plan on going above 400whp...the OEM clutch set up will handle your set up just fine.

If you do go to stage 2 you will need a fuel pump as well...and as far as blower goes...I would get the 1200, it flows a bit more air and I am not completely sold on the self lubricating model... even though some people have had great success.

Hope that helps.

The clutch slipped on my '05 with 34k miles right after I installed the 6 psi SOS kit for whatever that's worth. Fortunately, I found a tech that was able to install the clutch without removing the blower. I went with the SOS sport clutch with a used/resurfaced AP1 flywheel.

CT sells a larger crank extension for the 1220 kits.

read my post on about adding more boost for the 1220 kits on this forum.

Thanks eseDODke! I replied with even more questions.

Anything else based on my parts list guys? Anything I am going to need? Also, I have one vote for needing the clutch and one for not needing it. Anybody else with an opinion?

Definitely get a clutch to be safe. I would also definitely go for a 1200 blower if they offer that. MUCH more potential and should make more power everywhere.

Thanks Moddiction. Clutch it is then. I'm going to inquire about the 1200 upgrade today and see what CT has to say.
