I hate to say it, but my S is a garage queen that only gets driven a few times a month. The last time I changed the oil was back in 11/05 and I haven't even put 1000 miles on this oil yet. I don't burn any oil, but I noticed it seemed darker than normal for this amount of miles. I'll admit, when I do drive the car it's "spirited" Is it normal for oil to just turn dark over time? I suspect it's breaking down or the hydrocarbons are the cause of this. I use Mobil 1 10w30 btw. Any thoughts? Should I change the oil every 2000-3000 miles, every 3 months, or whichever comes first???

Or do I have OCD?

Edit: I checked my service record. I changed the oil on 10/19/05 at 12570, so I have about 1000 miles on the oil. Looks like I'm changing the oil this afternoon

 

Change the oil every 3000 milse or 3 months, which ever comes first. As far as why it's turning black...I have no idea I'm not an oil guru
