Disassembled Motor - Piston Carnage Pics
I would assume they are CP rings since they are CP pistons... but I'm not positive of that.
I'm dropping off the cylinder head/short block to Jeremy Allen for a rebuild next week. We'll be discussing options and I'm hoping for a bit of diagnosis from him on what possibly happened.
I'll update this thread as we progress.

Bores look perfect outside of cylinder 3, which is beyond scuffed. It's more like gouged. Not only does it catch a finger nail, it catches your whole finger. Ha.
Gonna chime in until the OP comes back but AFAIK all were built by ILP after Jeremy had left, so I don't think he had a hand in any of the 3(?) "builds"...
What's really wild to me is each time the OP had to spend even more money....In my mind if a freshly-built motor eats shit within a few hundred miles I'd hope the shop would honor their workmanship, as well as covering whatever damage occurs due to it....I wouldn't wanna be told "Oh man, that's a shame....we'll give you a discount on the next one..." kinda deal...I don't have the full context but that's kinda what I gathered from the original thread. This is a tough situation, because when you go down this rabbit hole of building engines, anything can go wrong or fail, and it's very hard to place blame as there's so many factors at play - it's a very nuanced situation, which is why I haven't ventured that way myself....I couldn't stomach spending 10k+ on a built engine to have it prematurely fail within a few hundred miles and I'm essentially left holding the bag...
In no way am I trying to scoff at the OP either...this is me sympathizing fully....I'd be ready to toss in the towel after the first flop....this man has my respect just on his level of dedication alone; I don't have the constitution for something like this.

I had my 2.4 bottom end put together by Golden Eagle in SoCal and recommend them fully. Going on 10k+ miles without any issues. Bored and sleeved with their own sleeves, though I would also trust DSport with an engine build, they put together some of the Evasive Motorsports engines they run in their Time Attack cars.
