Default dropping in a used motor

continued from my other thread... https://www.s2ki.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=771429

this is a somewhat budget build, please keep in mind
Im most likely picking up this complete AP1 motor, 26k on it.
What should I do to it before dropping in the car?

-3mm head gasket
the 3mm is good for 19psi IIRC, so I will do 16psi to play it safe
Also will put in a catch can system.

-APR Head studs

-Tap the girdle for oil return

-depending on VIN# from motor I will do the upgraded oil squirters, but im guessing its an '03 so I should be good right?

- what else can be done???

thanks

Sounds like you got it all figured out. Hit it with a wire brush and go full polished block.....haha jp. Oh and find out what caused your other motor to blow before starting this one up.

i would figure out what went wrong first, then fix that, then drop that motor in bone stock. 400 makes a f20 laugh. it could be as simple as you got bad gas though. take the head off and lets see what the pistons look like.

first of all, they're ARP studs, not APR lol

and second of all, what makes you think you need them or a 3mm headgasket? as other said don't even bother to crack open a stock block, it's good for more power than you plan to make.

ARP rod bolts and inspect and even change the rod bearings while you are doing so.
