The correct answer is: "It depends on the pump."

The flow from a pump decreases as boost pressure increases. Head losses in the lines also increase as fuel flow increases, so you have to look at the fuel pump curve at the operating voltage of the car. It is safe to assume the pump is powered by 12V due to resistance in the tiny OEM fuel pump power wiring. If it is powered directly from the battery via a relay with 8 GA wire (minimum for a 30 amp draw), you can get significantly more from the same pump.

For the walbro 255 or similarly sized pump, the stock lines will probably support about 600 whp on E85. Beyond that, your pump could be running out of flow prematurely.

And if you decide to upsize the lines to -8, please go to McMaster-Carr for the aluminum tubing and not summit or jegs for the crappy, over-priced coiled-up aluminum tubing.
www.mcmaster-carr.com Search for part number 89965K52 for -8 (feed) and 89965K45 for -6 (return).

Finally have access to e85 now in our area, omgnowaybbq.

So it looks like I might finally step away from my methanol setup this winter.

I've already got a twim pump hanger, (not in the car yet) with a 255 in tank, and a FB 340 ready to drop in. I have heard that the 340's have had issues on E85, is this true, or has anyone heard/had/seen any issues with these pumps and E85?

Secondly, the motor is built deep into the 800whp mark, how far can I get on stock lines?

ID2000's already installed.

Thanks in advance all.
I just got twin fbm340 and was told they do fine that the aeromotive tend to over heat on e85 and I honestly hope this is true because I have a extra aero 340 fuel pump that I'm trying to sell that is still brand new in the box because I thought it would work good with e85

Ok so where did you hear that aeromotive 340 overheats on e85? I have not had any issues and I have not heard one complaint on this forum regarding this pump. I thought this and the FB pumps were identical.

It even says on there site about u should clean filters every 10 hours I just did not want to take the chance I own a sleep all they were the same also but idk just did what shop said

Im on the aeromotive pumps as well just had this same issue..pumps didnt over heat just gets clogged at the screen under the pump...this was the reason i didnt make it to md
So is this a screen unique to aeromotive? Is it a screen in the pump other than stock screen? FB pump does not have this screen?
Not sure wat the fbm pump has but my aeromotive pump came with this this is after i cleaned or tried to clean it...had to take it to work and blow the rest out
I'm also using E85 and the same pump for almost a year now and so far no problems. Do they sell a replacement screen for this or do you just have to clean it? how often you have to clean this screen?

I was maxing out 2000cc injectors at 45 psi base pressure with dual 255's on -8AN feed -6AN drain at 816hp using E85. Since you have 340s but will be on stock lines I would say somewhere around 750-800 as well like g352s2k said.
Im running.l twin340s -10 feed and -6 return and.2000cc injectors what power mine good.for at 55psi

Should be just enough for you goals bobby, but I wouldn't run 55psi base pressure just stick with 43.5 imo. The 340 really starts to drop off above 75psi so it would be best to keep your rail pressure from getting too much higher with your 900whp goals. I would figure 43.5 + 35-38psi for 900whp so in the ballpark of 80psi for rail pressure.

I made this web app a while ago to help size up fuel pump and injectors to get a ballpark idea of what common fuel pumps you may be able to use.

No way in hell are you going to flow enough for 600whp on e85 with stock lines and a 255.

I'll have stock all stock lines.

1 255 walbro
1 fb 340 pump
KB BAP
Wired off battery through relay 10g wire.
ID2000's

I'd like to get into the 700whp-800whp range on e85 with base about 45psi

Possible?
