Default EMS - how are u passing smog?

I have the emange right now and have been thinking about upgrading to the EMS. My only concern is how you can possibly pass emissions with the EMS. Is everyone just plugging back the OEM ecu for emissions then? Has anyone actually passed emissions like this?

If they plug into the OBDII port you can't, unless it is able the fake the OBDII signals. It is said that Motec can do this but AEM most certainly does not. To pass smog you have two choices. Put back in your stock ECU for the smog test or pay off the tester to hook up a different car.

Oh and if you really want to keep ODBII and yet have alot of the features of a full ECU, look into the Emanage Ultimate and see if that will meet your needs.

Thanks. That's what I thought. It can be a big pain in the butt to swap back the stock ecu if you are running larger injectors. And then make sure that the MAP doesn't see any boost just to pass emissions. I think this si the only reason why I haven't switched over to the EMS.

Thanks for the info.

There is NO workaround to pass a OBDII smog check with an EMS.

If your car won't run on the stock PCM, it's not going to pass.
