I think it's possible that you do but aren't noticing it. I've had the problem as well but only noticed it recently and under certain conditions. When you have a straight exhaust with no cat the smell that it produces can almost mask the smell of the gas.

I just finished looking though the shop manual. It looks like there are two solenoids and a tank pressure sensor. The way it looks like it works is that the TPS (tank sensor) sends a 0-5v signal to the ecu. Once a certain voltage is met (not real clear in the manual) the evap solenoid opens and allows the vapor to go into the intake track to be burned. My guess is that since the EMS doesn't respond to the voltages and that solenoid stays open 100% of the time. Which means that while the car is sitting fuel vapor is allowed to flow into the manifold while the motor is not running.
Yea that sounds just like what I found too. The EMS dosen't have the capability to work like that. So is it possible there could be a work around? Seems possible but I won't have time to work on it for a couple weeks.

Well i just took it off by the engine bay and capped it off, or should I have left it vent into the atmosphere
