Default F20c Coldside Eaton M90 build

Hello all.

I have been building my current project car for near on 6 years.

http://www.rollaclub.com/board/topic...0c-conversion/

It is a 1975 ke30 Toyota Corolla.
It has a F20c out of a 1999 AP1 S2k.
Last year I decided I needed to Fi the engine as a 200KW engine in a 800kg car just won't cut it (and because another guy in Australia beat me to finishing this engine conversion haha).

I could go turbo and make if much easier on myself, but I just love the whine of a big, fat roots blower and so let the fun begin :-D. (Before anybody mentions the plethora of centrifugal superchargers out there, they won't fit as I only have about an inch between my harmonic balancer and my radiator).

So here's what is currently happening.
The s2 intake manifold is being cut off just behind the fuel rail mounts.
A 3mm plate of aluminium is being welded to where I cut the runners.
An aluminium box with a 12 x 5 x 2.5 inch bell liquid aftercooler core inside it will be welded to the aluminium plate.
Then a recessed mount for the charger will be welded atop that.
I have decided to run approx 10 psi of boost.
To achieve this I purchased an Fd civic power steering pump pulley and had it modified to fit the Eaton M90 blower.
I will have 8.5 psi of boost with this pulley. The reason I did this was because getting a custom made pulley was much too expensive.

Will keep you posted on my progress.

Cheers dave

Sweet build, I'm curious to see how a big roots blower performs on these small displacement engines.

The reason I chose the m90 is because at a roots blowers peak rpm ( in the M90 case 12000 rpm) the are an incredibly inefficient air pump and turn into a very efficent air heater pushing the intake charge air up to 200 degrees C.
It was also very cheap to buy and rebuild.
I'm building at a budget and cannot afford a Whipple or lysholm.

So I'll be driving it up to 10000 rpm to have 2000 rpm headway and hopefully it will knock a bit off the intake temp.

I have done all the maths and will post it tomorrow.
I did see it on another forum so I'll see if it can be made a sticky to help others out if they go the positive displacement route.

I've also got a fairly large bypass valve going on it so when not a full throttle the parasitic loss will be slightly lessso the charger can "free wheel" to some extent.

If any of you fellah knows anybody other then bell that makes water cores for intercooler let me know.

Bell make a great product but I can't justify spending almost $700 on shipping to Australia......
