Finally got some issues worked out
That's the plan down the line, like next year. Spending money on my car is off limits for the time being. Little stuff is fine but anything 150+ is a no can do. I'm saving for my move to Cali in November.
I've been down the stand alone route before, and I'm really wary of doing it again. "Stand alone" can literally mean you standing alone on the side of the road wondering what went wrong!
Granted, I understand that Hondata is quite 'OEM' in that it uses OE sensors, and cold start and part throttle driveability should be just fine - those are major areas where stand alone systems can be a huge pain in the ass. But the gains are there I suppose.
That said, I picked the stage 1 system to just have a simple bolt-on, and not have to worry about tuning too much. A 70-80 rwhp gain is still a 70-80 rwhp gain. The car's fun factor is improved substantially. I never went into it thinking it would be a numbers car (if it were numbers I was most concerned about, then I would have been down the GTR - R32s and R33s are legal in Canada now - or Supra route), but the combination of the S2000's lightweight, handling and now more power makes it a lot more fun.
I think I may run it on the dyno again to see what's what, but if nothing more, then I'll just leave it, and drive it, and not worry too much about it. When and if the engine blows up (which could be a while), then I will think about doing something else. I was actually hoping to have it all sorted out by now, but oh well. In a couple weeks I am going to get started on my 5.4L engine swap into my AMG, so I need to turn my attention (and wallet!) to that now!

I feel the same way. I wanted the base kit bc I didn't want anything more than 300whp with no need for extras (stand alone injectors etc). Don't get me wrong, 4.77s and a supercharger is extremely fun and it's exactly what I wanted and I don regret the purchase at all, I just want to make sure I'm getting all my money's worth as far as Performance goes.
Well I finally got around to installing my updated fvm that SOS sent me. They added 20% more fuel where I had my lean spike. I also added 1 step colder plugs and discovered a broken motor mount a day before the dyno
Results were a mixed bag. I loss 8 hp but I have a safer AFR ( nothing jumped over 13 this time)
Honestly, screw this piggy back junk. If it wasn't for the fact that I need every penny to move to Cali in 2 months, I'd order stand alone and 650 injectors. I'll just keep the car registered in VA.

I have had issues with the piggyback system ever since it was installed. this friday it gets tossed and the car gets tuned with AEM 6052, 1000 cc injectors, UGEO controller and a pair of serial gauges to monitor it all. I was getting the same problem in the 6K to 7K range. Luckily, I am in a part of the country that has "visual" inspection requirements only, no OBD II port needed. I could even delete the air pump if I wanted to.
