Agree, that looks more like a deep scratch than a crack

Could try to weld it and have the block decked but I would hate to have headgasket issues constantly after all that effort.

Doesn't look like a crack, looks more like a gouge mark from a flat head screw driver. Maybe someone being careless with old gasket removal or...

Anyway looks to be no more then 1mm deep and maybe less. Can it be milled down that far safely? That would be my first questions. Second question would be can it be filled and then milled reliably? Last resort would be sleeving in my mind. I don't care for running forged pistons.

I blame the "tuner".

^ I hate you.

I'm not sure on what the owner is going to do. It's in the shop's hands right now and it sounds like this kid is tapped out for money. I heard he just wants to get it back together and sell it all. I believe it can be filled and decked but that would require additional funds that he doesn't have. I warned him about things failing with serious power and he was quite adamant about making 600whp which in most cases is easily done on this motor.

So he wanted 600whp and had zero backup funds after the tuning session cost? This was going to end badly for him at some point regardless

Thats not a crack...that's a gouge.

It could be decked .003-.005 and get rid of that.

If he's broke, use a razor blade to knock down the high parts and put the new gasket on with copper spray or preferably blue hylomar to seal the water good and keep the boost low.

That's correct. He also didn't know what clutch was in it and thought it might be a stage 2. Once it hit 500 it slipped up top lol. He still asked...."so, do you think we can still make 600hp?"

He's young in this game and will learn like the rest of us haha. Be prepared to have money to fix things when you start askin for big boy power.

Dumb. He probably cant even handle 400whp safely. Tell him to sell the damn turbo kit and patch the motor back together and sell it. Then go pick up a beat 240sx and put the rest away for Collage.
