Default Found a good solution for rebuilds

I’ve read the number of posts on our motors and the FRM material. A company called millennium coatings can nikasil coat the cylinders and return the blocks to OEM like levels of tolerance and longevity. I called them yesterday. It’s about $1400 to do this work. Can you send the pistons and rings and they’ll even gap them for you based on your needs.

I have a Hayabusa that runs 32 pounds of boost with a nikasil coated set up (it’s how Suzuki does is oem). It never has once had an issue.

it just seems like a lot of motors that are sleeved don’t last as long and there are so many F series motors that are good other than scored cylinders that get junked.

Yup, I've been saying this, but no one wants to try. I'm will, once I need to.

Its soooo much better than sleeving, for any application that isn't like 900+ hp.

Nikasil actually superior to frm in every way. Been used on many P cars.

Will be very curious how this works out. Pretty sure my old dirtbikes had Nikasil cylinders and they were very rebuildable. I'd just use WD40 and a scotch brite to deglaze the cylinder between pistons. Then clean with carb cleaner and install the piston/rings. Different in so many ways but it's something.

All the land speed racers who use Hayabusas as far as I know are using Nikasil coated cylinders. It’s how they come oem. 1000hp from 1.3 liters over 5 miles. The stuff works.

OEM pistons are fine with Nikasil.

My next motor WILL be sent to Millimium for coating. If the F22 I’m putting in doesn’t seal it’ll be the “next”.

I would expect they could bore them and then coat them. But will be interested in seeing what they say, how much they can bore them, etc.

I agree this would be a great option, especially with the cost of these motors now. $1400 plus I am sure more for them to match up the rings but still .. with 100,000 mile motors going for $4k-$5k that aint bad.
