S2Kart, thanks for the visual! So are you saying that the problem is not the sock/filter, but instead has something to do with the pump? Can you give me a little more info so I know what I am doing before I pull the pump out?

That thing is the hardest part of the install, why not just track your milage and keep your tank full

The plastic Walbro fuel filter may be your problem.

Different issue - the fuel level float can interfere with the baffles in the fuel tank and not measure fuel below say 1/4 tank.

My fuel gauge works just fine, so I don;t need to keep track of mileage to determine fuel level, etc.

What I am truly worried about is running lean. If I can feel the hesitation at 1/3 tank and it gets worse the lower the fuel level gets, then in theory there is probably some lesser starvation that I can't feel starting earlier than that. I picked up a GReddy A/F gauge so I can watch for running lean, but I want to solve the problem, not create a workaround.

I'm going to pull the fuel pump soon and replace the sock with an OEM one. Hopefully that solves the problem.

^I would never go through all of the problems of pulling the fuel pump out of my car again to change the fuel pump sock! I reused the stock sock but the Walbro works fine. Just refill after about 200 miles or so. You didn't do the original install, so you may not be familiar with how hard it is to get the fuel pump out. Good luck with what you decide.

One of the reasons that I went with the GReddy kit instead of others, was because I wanted a turbo system that would be reliable and blend with the car instead of being crazy powerful. (and it was cheap) That being said, having a car that stumbles when the gas level gets down past 1/2 tank is not reliable. I gotta fix it!

I would say the problem is the connection from the fuel pump to the fuel line within the tank. Once the fuel level drops below where the line attaches to the pump you're probably spitting fuel out (loose connection creating a path of least resistance). When the fuel level is above the pump the fuel in the tank is exerting enough pressure on the connection from the outside that the leak isn't as great and more fuel makes it to your engine.

Hmmm, that is another good theory. I guess I have to pull the pump either way to check it, so I'll also look out for that.

I bet it is the sock. Search this forum, there were a few threads about this same exact issue. I am glad I went ahead and used the stock sock. The walbro just did not seem right.
