So I had a little knocking when I took any corner at all. The Full Blown 8.8 kit was already on the car when I bought it. I thought it was the diff, but I got it rebuilt with Ford Racing gears and an Eaton posi and the sound was the exact same.
The guy I hired to help me, got under the car and realized the passenger side CV had some play in it. He took it off and said he would get it fixed. Turns out he is a POS and this was well over 6 months ago. I have been in contact with FB to get a replacement CV axle but have an issue.
They need to know which one to order. I got under the car and counted 26 splines at the wheel and 22 splines at the diff... but FB looks like they are 28 or 31 spline... am I missing something? I am not sure if it is the 3.9 or 5.9. My car is an AP1. The guys I talked to at FB told me to drop the driver side CV and get pictures of it but would these not suffice?
Thanks for any help... really just want to drive my damn car again!

It looks like you might be counting the rollers on the needle bearing. To count the splines for the diff, you'll have to look closer to the inside of the diff, on the spider gears.
Well that seems to make a little too much sense. Thanks for the quick response!
I can turn a wrench a little bit but have zero experience with rear ends.
So if I can't see the spider gear spline count from the pic attached there, I probably need to pull the good axle then. Is there any external way to tell the difference between the 3.9 and 5.9?
Just the splines on the axle, should be 28 or 31 count. Any pictures of the axle? I may be able to tell if ta 5.9 or not depending on what style axles you have.

I don't. Well I do, but it is a crappy picture as I wasn't really intending to get the axle in the picture. Looked at it today and it doesn't seem terribly daunting to get the functional axle removed for some pictures so I think I will be attempting that tomorrow.
