Default Getting new turbo

I got a 01 s2k already turboed by the previous owner and i went and had a tune last weekend. I ended up with 348whp and 240lbs torque but everytime we did a pull he said my turbo was getting weaker and it would smoke really bad. We are assuming turbo is going bad. I just wanted to get any suggestion people have on turbos. All i know about my current ebay cheap turbo is .64hotside .50 a/r cold. I would like to make it up to 400 whp and try to stay around $800 or so. I have been looking at this turbo

that turbo is too little, we need to know more info. What manifold do you have and how much power/boost do you plan on making? also what are the supporting mods? injectors, downpipe size, fmic size?

a precision 5857 is perfect for hitting 380- 400 around 10-12psi on a good tubular manifold. They are in your budget if you get journal bearing. I have a ball bearing 5857 .63ar and I made 423whp on 13psi with my old mase kit

Don't cheap out, if you have a inline pro manifold you will need a B housing or you will need to cut into your frame. So consider there 5865b or a gt30 in the b housing. If you want to notch then get the turbo mentioned for quick spool or the 6262 or gt35 for more high end number and run around 16psi IMO.

Inline log manifold? can't use a 5857 then... I'd sell the hot side and injectors you have and get a good tubular hotside and ID1000 injectors
