Has anyone read the bit on this kit in the october issue of SCC?

They say that Greddy's test car put down 286whp at 7.5-8psi. at 9.5-10psi they say that it hits the 300 mark with 228lb-ft of torque. They also go on to explain that "the turbo reaches peak boost around 3500rpm and post a peak gain in torgue of 66lb-ft at 4000rpm under low boost. Crank it up to 9.5psi on high boost and the gain is 95lb-ft at the same rpm"

They also talk about how easy the install is, and how only minor modifications need to be made to the engine bay.

All in all, i find this kit attractive for someone with a fairly new s2k who wants a tad more power to toy with. It's also seems beneficial for someone under warranty considering the ease it might be to set the car back to stock (any maybe pull one over on the hawks at the dealerships if anything did go wrong )

The way i see it, it's like a beginner kit to the world of boost, just as most other greddy kits have been before this one. It serves it's purpose and only time will tell of the reliability factor.

I was very intersted in this kit and am still debating on whether i want to go the whole 9 yards and get the inline pro & have potential, or buy the greddy kit and feel like i have a stock turbo car that can hang with the STi's and Evos coming of the lots.

I suppose i have more thinking to do, and someone here earlier made a very interesting point about boost timing in sc vs tb...just another thing to consider sheesh! i just want to go fast

Believe it or not I talked to my contacts at Greddy about this article and they were not informed of the write up. There are some major flaws in the way they did there testing... namely the fan they were using to push air through the FMIC...

The fan thing was obvious since it was blatantly stated in the article.

One other thing is they turned up the boost but did not mention a retune due to the increase in boost pressure.

So they were probably getting a bit of inaudible knock so the OEM comp was most likely pulling timing due to knock more so then for just high intake temps due to a small fan for the FMIC.

You would blow stock EVO's and STI's out of the water with the Greddy kit.

The car used in the article was my car.

Greddy was well aware that there would be an article written, where else would all the information come from? There was nothing to do about the fan, it was the only one they had, hence the comment in the article about it. And it wasn't too cool that day, about 81 degrees.

The car was in fact tuned for the higher boost pressure.

When I talked to Chris he said he did not know anything about the article and if I would copy it and fax it to him he would be most appreciative.

What were the final numbers at the higher boost level.
I just scanned over the graph and do not remember what the final numbers were.

SO it was tuned on 91

Yes, not every employee might have known about the article, especially those on the east coast, but SCC certainly didn't write it up w/o greddy information and knowledge.

High: 300hp 228ft/lbs
Low: 286 hp 198 ft/lbs

stock 05 (beb's car): 216hp 151 ft/lbs

magazine states full boost at 3500 rpm and peak torque at 4000rpm. This is where a lot of the difference in feel is at! (for those of you who are stuck between going SC or turbo).
