I bought one and its on the car already but Greddy's service is horrible. They recalled there oil lines. My mechanic called and told them that the fittings were put on backwards which is prone to leak.

They told him that he could switch them and it would work. So he did it worked for a day and then the leak started of course the car is back sitting.

Its been four weeks since they have called about the recall and nothing!!! I am very disapointed about that I bet if I was to have purchased a diffrent kit I would not have to deal with this.

I do not recomend buying this kit.

The kit is still very new. Anybody who buys a FI kit that just came out should be prepared to deal with an issue or two.

Of course Greddy should be helping their customers through it, and it sounds like there has been a breakdown of communication in the above case. I'd suggest calling Greddy again. I can tell you that I've had very quick response to my questions from Greddy, and I'm not even a customer yet.

I'm standing by for a few months so that the first wave of buyers has a chance to sort out the bugs. And when I do buy it will be from Static X cause they have the knowledge to help me out if I have a problem.

good advice.

As for the person frustrated about the oil lines, call them up and ask for them! I know they have been sending the replacements out all week this week.

The squeaky wheel always gets the grease.

For thos ethat are presently running the Greddy set up, I have a few questions

1. how is the heat. I was not planning on purchasing a new hood or putting holes in the present one. Any issues with the heat on the hood?

2. Since boost starts in the 3xxx range, how is the overall drivability effected when you are driving the car under normal conditions both in town and on the highway(lets say around 70mph). Aren't you in boost with normal driving?

3. How does that effect fuel consumption under normal conditions.

1. There is a lot of heat. I would personally recommend a vented hood to keep engine temps down. The air diversion plate in the kit helps divert hot air from the radiator to under the car, but the turbo just radiates heat like crazy.

2. It's a very easy drive around the town, just added power. You'll find that you won't need to downshift very much to pass people now, and staying at higher revs would just use more gas too! On the highway, i'm always in vacuum unless i'm accelerating.

3. I'm currently getting 20mpg, but i step on it frequently, so i'd say if you drive normally you'd get 20-25mpg.

Thanks for the input. I have been debating on which direction to go...SC or TC. I am not looking to race the car or really even track it, I am just looking to add a little more power to my weekend driver.

At this point I am not wanting to cut or replace the hood. Does the heat build up come from driving the car hard or is just from normal conditions. If I were in a lot of stop and go traffic but driving under normal conditions, does the turbo get hotter or is it always hot becuase of the exhaust? any idea of the effects from the heat? Damaged paint on hood? Could I shield it? Melting of any plastic under the hood? Could such heat cause engine problems?

These are all factors in making a decision to SC/TC

I know this is getting into the age-old debate, but I feel a turbo is your better bet if you want street power.

A turbo does give off alot of heat. Even when you're not on boost but definately more when you're boosting.

If you want to run your stock hood I suggest you have the manifold, turbine housing, and downpipe ceramic coated. This will keep alot of heat out of the engine bay and in the exhaust gas (which is where you want it anyway). It should run you about $250-300. Hey, it's less than a vented hood.

I see the greddy site has AP1 & AP2 up now... but AP2 is only 04-05... didn't they start their kit on an 06? I can't wait for a DBW kit.
