Greddy turbo spark plug question
I just had my greddy turbo installed last week and took delivery saturday, but got a steady check engine light about half an hour after I left the shop. The car was very slow to start throughout the day after leaving it parked for awhile in 75 degree temps. It took about 3 - 5 seconds for the engine to fire and stock about a second. The engine shut down like someone pulled the plug when I was cruising on the PA turnpike. The check engine light was flashing as it did so. I had already driven about 150+ miles with it and had no problems other than the ones I mentioned above.
After the car coasted to a stop, it refused to start. It cranks and cranks, but never fires. I had to have it towed back to the tuner. He told me he didn't change the plugs because he could not get them in time by the time I was supposed to pick up the car, and didn't think it would be a major issue. He told me that leaving the old plugs in would not have caused the car to shut off like it did. I don't have enough experience with turbos to know if this is true or not so I'm looking for opinions.
I'm still waiting after almost 3 days to get a diagnosis from them, as he now has a backlog of cars in his lot. I have a lot of time to speculate about what happened and I'm not sure. The car felt awesome all day until this happened.
I don't have the codes that were thrown yet, since I'm still waiting for the tuner to work on the car, so don't ask me for them yet. I'll post them when I get them.

It turned out that I was out of gas. The fuel filter leveler problem was so bad it indicated I had a 1/4 tank left and I totally lost track of how many miles I had driven. My tuner replaced the filter with a smaller one that doesn't interfere with the leveler.

I made 270hp 191tq in the end. The baseline was 186/133. The tuner smoothed the curve out a bit and increased the overall area under the curve over the basemap, but could not beat the original basemap's topend of 271.
Just to remind everybody my engine and exhaust are stock but I currently have a Megan test pipe on there. I also run 4.57 gears so I don't need to shift most of the time to do ordinary highway passing.
The original check engine light was due to a problem with the test pipe which predates the turbo installation, and the flashing check engine light probably came on because the car sensed an engine misfire when trying to run with virtually no gas.
I am now considering various exhausts and I still need to figure out what to do with the test pipe. Would putting my stock cat back on, and getting a larger exhaust net me a noticeable increase?
Overall, I got exactly what I wanted with this turbo. The car feels great, looks stock if you ignore the shiny intercooler and runs like a charm, while still giving me a bit of room to increase the power.
