Scorpion, thank you very much for posting that up!

I was told by a local friend that I can get the EMS to do a display type mode, however read somewhere on the EMS forums that you can not. I was really confused, but figured the Forums would be more accurate - apparently not!

for you guys running a laptop in ur s, do you have some kind of mounting table in the car or u just leaving it on the seat, my friend with a turbo rsx type s made his own laptop mount and it looks pretty good, it bolts under the seat using one of the seat bolts and stands like 2 and half feet tall so someone can still sit there, and will ems work with a palm pilot or pocket pc?

It depends on where the probe is. I have seen it recommended that downpipe installations not exceed 1400 degF, and pre-turbo (exhaust manifold) installations not exceed 1550 degF. But that's not an end all be all. I used to see high 1600s in my Eclipse and never had any problems. With the S I never allow it to go over 1600 though. And that's just because I like to know I'm not pushing the limit.

Just remember this...by the time the gauge reads a "dangerious" level...it's more than likely too late and the enigine is going to suffer damage. So becarful if you are using it to tune.

I just throw my in my seat, if you are not tuning then you shouldn't need it in the car. I am planning on adding a PC to the car though and putting a 7" LCD touchscreen in the dash. It'll make life easy to, plus add some bling

As far as I know, there is no support for palm or pocketPCs yet. And I don't know if AEM will ever adopt it, it'd be nice for logging though.

Personal opinion:

Need:

-Oil pressure, keep the turbo fed.

-Boost, not that you need to know exactly what your boost is when driving, but just to notice if you have boost leak or a failed wastegate.

Anything after that is just gravy. You have a wideband, so any additional A/F ratio is just being picky. Unless you plan on driving hard for hours on end, oil temp will not tell you anything. Water temp is the only one that might be useful. Only because if your thermostat goes bad, or worse your water pump, you'll lose half of your coolant before the stock gauge notices anything.

A perfectly running car needs no gauges. Therefore, what do you think is your weakest link? What stock part is doing the job of a high performance part?

I'm ready
