Well when I removed the sensor and installed the gauge the light went way so was thinking I should just buy the gauge and replace the oil pressure sensor would that be ok or do I have to have it ??!!

No u do not need it. It is only a dummy light anyway, they usually come on when it's too late or when u are quarts low. I'd trust an oil gauge over bs dummy light but with aem u absolutely do not need it

I will also add this, tape the end up good, I do remember before my wire tuck the dangling wire touched the valve cover and grounded and did set off a oil light, as soon as I got out and moved it off the contact , light off!!

Have u ever disconnected it to check. Both my cars have the sensor and the wireing removed and I have never seen a light come on. Also bois2k stated when fully unplugged for gauge he didn't get a light. So I'd say grounded wire. Again u do use version 1 so I cannot be 100% that it's the same. I also know that vtec oil pressure switch is not needed for v2

The sensor is a switched ground meaning you have to touch the wire to a grounded point on the chassis for the light to come on.

Just disconnecting the wire will not give you a oil light in the dash, you must touch it to the chassis.

If u were to pull the plug on a stock car with stock ecu the light comes on. If u pull it on aem it does not. Please explain cause I'm not disagreeing I'm just curious as too why. But still one should agree that a gauge is more reliable than an idiot light

Just to reiterate what you'll are saying.... I looked at the wiring schematic and the oil sensor is directly connected to the gauge cluster and never goes to the ECU. That means no matter the version of AEM or Hondata or Haltech etc that you use, you will still have oil dummy light functionality. I think, like in the case of Termination, it is a nice safe guard to have. Due to my turbo set-ups I have had to use an oil relocation kit so thats where i get my feed/ oil pressure from.

I tapped the oil feed from the vtec oil pressure sensor (since it's not used with AEM) and just left my engine oil pressure switch in the factory location
