Help...car stuttering at freeway speeds
Hey Fellas,
I bought my MY00 S2K about a month ago with a vortech SC already installed along with a S-AFC II. It was completely trouble free for the first 3 weeks.
Last Friday I brought the car into a local alarm shop here in LA to get a Clifford Matrix alarm installed. I went to Vegas over the weekend and didn't drive the car until Monday on my way to work.
On Monday I noticed that when I drive over sharp bumps in the freeway or change lanes and cross over the bumpy reflectors the engine seems to hesitate a bit as if there were a loose electrical connection.
Yesterday on my way into work I noticed the same problem again. But this time it seemed to get progressively worse until the check engine light came on and the car refused to accelerate at all. I was barely able to make it off the 405 freeway without cars plowing into me, but when I did I pulled over and reset the ECU by disconnecting the negative battery terminal.
I started the car up, and no check engine light. It ran smoooth for about 20 minutes and then the same thing happened....once again I barely made it off the freeway.
I had my S2K towed to the alarm shop so that they can double check their work and make sure there are no loose or faulty connections. That's where I stand now.
Any ideas on what might be causing my problem other than a poor install? I've heard that the MAP sensors can go bad. Anyone had anything like this happen before?
If the alarm shop can't figure out the problem, would I be better off taking the car to the dealer or to Spugen? I'm leaning toward Spugen because they have a lot more experience with heavily modded S2Ks.
Thanks for the input fellas, it is appreciated.

Get the CEL code pulled before troubleshooting. I've never seen a alarm or stereo shop fix any driveability problem, so I'd suggest taking it to a Honda specialized shop. Check your local forum for shop referalls.

similar situation happened to me a couple of days ago. I have a comptech SC with AC..... Driving on the freeway and all of the sudden the car didn't have any power and the check engine light came on. To make a long story short I replaced my plugs and changed the oil (it couldn't hurt) and the car is now running good.

I got the car back from the alarm shop after telling them to check the electrical connections and vacuum lines, and all seems to be fine now.
I went on a drive from LA to the Valley and on streets and the freeway no problems.
I suppose all I can do now is drive it and hope for the best.

They said they double checked all the electrical and vaccum lines and everything looked ok...
i suppose its possible that they found some type of a bonehead error in their work and are just trying to save face

I doubt they called up Tinkerbell to sprinkle pixie dust on it and suddenly, the troubles were gone.
