stock filter should not hang up on the float, as the stock setup (pump, filter) doesn't get in the way of the float. I used the stock filter when i had my kit w/ no problems. If you use the walbro pump and the stock filter and it hangs up then the length of hose from the top of the pump to the housing is probably too short, moving the entire pump/filter assembly upwards. when installing the pump, you have to make sure it sits as far as it can down in its little plastic guide/support.

so i found out the problem that my car needed gas,even thought it still showed thati had like 5 lines left. how can i fix this problem so that the gauge can be accurate

go by milage, I fill up around 220 to 230miles

take your fuel pump out and replace the walbro filter with an OEM fuel filter.
