Default Help Diagnosing Ticking

Can anyone help me identifying a ticking noise?

Comes from the engine and it ticks really loud when the car first starts up and under any kind of acceleration.

It is boosted with stock internals and has 50k on the odo

Thanks in advanced

Ever replaced the timing chain tensioner? Common source of ticking. See if you can find some threads on this. Many have some audio.

Changing it is a 15 minute job. I think all ya need is a 10mm ratchet spanner, needle nose pliers, and an Allen set. I recommend the Billman GenX TCT.

Have not replaced the TCT. Really think it may be coming from the valve train as the car does not respond at all with more than 20% throttle.

Does a bad TCT cause a significant loss in power like that?
