Warm the car up to operating temperature and then let the car cool completely over night and go out and pull the radiator cap the next day. If the system has pressure and a little coolant spits out, you have a blown HG.
any amount of pressure indicates this?

I will be doing this check often , thanks

If you pull the radiator cap and there is any significant pressure left in the system after the car has been sitting for a while and is completely cold, its normally a blown HG with this car from what I have learned.

I dont mean coolant pouring out or anything, I mean coolant spitting out as the pressure is released when you pull the cap after the car has been sitting over night. The system should have very minimal pressure in it after its been sitting over night unless a blown HG has been pumping air bubbles into it. If you pull the cap after the car has been sitting over night and there is still quite a bit of pressure on it, the HG is more than likely blown. Its a big indicator on this car.

wow hmm thats kind of scary...here's the thing, I have gotten pressure after the car sat overnight but it's about the same amount of pressure I got from my other car when I pull the cap off.

Are you saying there should be no pressure at all?

^^No, there could be a very little bit of pressure and thats normal. I shouldnt have said no pressure and instead should have said very minimal pressure. I'll fix that. What i'm talking about is a significant amount of pressure, which you can tell just doesnt seem right.

well I feel a little better now I'm almost 99% sure it's my water pump anyhow as when I took my belt off and spun the wheel connected to the pump there was some sort or a bearing noise...not much play however.

I'm also curious about the valve between rad cap and overflow, I'm going to order one of those to be safe.
