Adam, sleeve it if the money is available. if not, dont sweat it and get an unopened ap2 block and call it a day bro.

you'll be good either way. :-)
Thats the issue, I can't trust I am getting a good motor from anyone..

Who's to say it's safe...so if I got it, I'd want to tear it down and double check..

I've got to talk to them tomorrow again.

^true. how much are you gonna throw at it if its just an ap2 replacement?
you just need the short block right?

buy the f22 block. tare it down. use ACL race kit for the bearing and thrust, get a nice hone on the block and resurface the deck and head(about 180 bucks) at a machine shop. buy an oem ring kit(if you go with the oem pistons), or buy some forged pistons with their recommended rings(total seal's or whatever). build it up. and go with whatever HG you have decided on.

thats the best way as far as price goes without going balls to the walls with a full sleeved and built IP shortblock.

you've got options bro. dont feel pigeon-holed into something. ;-)

I know what you can do.....Call IP and tell them you want a second opinion on the sleeves and you want them to ship it back to you. There are two things that could happen here.

1. They could say ok, we will ship it back to you so you can have it checked by someone else, or.....

2. They dance around the idea and subject and say that they will talk to Jeremy and get right back to you or something, which would seem fishy.

If its number 2, then you know something is up and you need to get to the bottom of it because when they call you back, they may claim that they double checked things and now they CAN do your original build with the stock sleeves and Mahle pistons.

If its number 1 and nothing sounds fishy, talk with them a little more and then change your mind on having someone else take a look at it if you want and try to work a deal out with them on the fully sleeved block.

Thats what I would do anyway to make sure that my sleeves are truly bad and no one is trying to pull something over on me. And I'm not bashing IP at all because I dont think they would do anything fishy, but you never know.....This is just to ease Adam's mind on whether his sleeves were truly bad or not.

Wow that's a hard call to make. I'd price out several options and think it over for a while before making a decision... And I'd hope that somebody on here could help you find a good f22 block for low $$.

^you have to be an extremely good builder and know how to use a plasti-gauge and have a few extra to spend on extra bearings just to size the oem ones correctly.

i have used ACL race bearings on every engine i have ever built and they are all still running today(the ones in this town that i still hear about that is).
