Water doesn't combust. When you throw a lot of it in your engine and push your engine, your cylinder pressure goes up significantly. I have a few cobalt friends who ran a bunch of meth and 2 of them cracked sleeves over time. Its not worth it to me.

This is one of the main reasons why I don't like water/meth.

I have some reasons for liking water/meth.

1. 9 sec street car
2. 700+whp
3. Pump Gas

And no reasons not to.

Good luck with the rebuild!

yeah but the 700whp was not really "safe" on pump gas lol but you made it, so more power to you. 600 on pump gas is moreeee than enough for the street, and i believe that is a safe level with meth.

Just saying. I hear so many people act like it's horrible. I ran all last season at that power level. Put 6000 miles on the car during the summer, probably took at least 50 hits at the track, burnouts, dyno sessions, street pulls.

700 isn't necessarily "safe" unless you are on race gas, and even then, what's the definition of "safe"

I might do some forged pistons and then I would feel safer using meth for that 700whp mark.

Who knows..

Anyway, I finally got to tear the motor down tonight, I've been taking pics, but I ran into a small snag.

Question:

I pulled the head, but I can't seem to figure out how to get the oil pickup off.

The chain is still connected to the lower power, and I pulled the 3 bolts that bolt the entire pulled/pickup to the block, but b/c the lower part of the chain is on there, I can't pull it off.

How do I get that thing off, all thats stopping me from pulling the splash and rods to check the walls.

Don't tell me I have to pull the timing cover off, b/c I left it on...lol

Thanks

The oil pickup is part of the pump isn't it? I don't remember the steps but I didn't have any trouble pulling apart my f20's. I guess pull the timing cover and see what's still attached...?
