Default HFC with stock exhaust

Recently added a GReddy turbo kit to my 06. Maxed out at 265/218 at 9psi due to the cat/exhaust. Another of PSI's clients just added a new invidia dual exhaust, but left the cat as stock on his GReddy equipped 06. Net gain - just 3-5whp. I've heard the cat is the bigger problem, so next week I toss in a Berk HFC, get a new Hondata 4-bar MAP, bump the boost to 10-11psi, and get a retune, but all with the stock exhaust. We'll see how much the problem is with the exhaust vs cat. Dynos posted late next week Visions of 300 dancing in my head, but I ain't looking to blow up over $500 in new mods!

Id recommend getting an exhaust to go with your HFC if you want to make a bit more power. You can go with a fujitsubo or Invidia Q300 if you want a dual / quiet exhaust.

I would love to add a new exhaust, too, but I'm trying to find that elusive balance between unlimited spending and biggest boost for the budget. I figure if I replace the cat (low $) and am happy, then I've saved the big$ on the exhaust. If figure I can always spend more on changing the exhaust later and keep on spending.

There's not a one of you on these boards who told me this wouldn't happen. I hate you all.

I did the Fujitsubo and 63.5mm Berk HFC and it's perfect with the Greddy kit - just barely audible at any speed, never loud or droning or annoying. Haven't dyno'd yet though. Curious to see how yours turns out!

Just do the HFC. It really is the best bang for the buck.

One new Berk HFC and a 4 bar map later, the results are in: the HFC is the biggest bottleneck in the system holding back some boost. The new dyno is below, but we ran out of gas with the 550 injectors the GReddy kit came with. Jason at PSI ended up backing off the tune to 285 pending the purchase of some 750s. All in all, a jump in whp/torque from 264/218 to 296/227 for just a $249 HFC and a $149 4-bar MAP. More when I get me some 750 injectors!
