HKS hi power dual
ive been tryin to find out if there is a way to keep the hks hi power mufflers and get custom piping to fit my future inlinepro turbo setup. AND if so not have CEL from new piping.
Of course it is possible. When I first went turbo I still had my HKS exhaust on without any other modifications. Ultimate Racing had the downpipe connecting to the stock cat perfectly so everything went together well.
Are you wanting to keep just the mufflers or the entire exhaust system? For optimal results, you may want to get a larger diameter exhaust just to get the most out of your turbo.

You'll still have the same diameter in the muffler. The volume and velocity of the exhaust gases would decrease greatly by the end but you would need to have an appropriet type of reduction to avoid power loss due to unwanted types of turbulence in the exhaust flow.
so what single tip exhaust sounds just as good or similar to the HKS hi power. i know thats very picky but if i could keep the same sound or something close to it would be nice. anyone try the inlinepro 3in exhaust they offer now?
If you want the HKS mufflers you can have a local shop to mandrel bend some nice stainless steel from cat back to the Y split for you. Seeing that its not so long, you only need so much material, they shouldnt charge you more then $200 for the whole thing. I love my HKS HiPower exhaust, it was perfect before I was boosted, its alittle louder for some reason now that I'm boosted, but I'm not gonna complain about the sound, its nothing near the single exhausts. I'm just stating that it was a tad louder after boost.
I use to have an HKS hi-power on my car before I went turbo and I LOVED the sound of it. You need to keep in mind that when you add a turbo into the mix along with a new exhaust manifold it completely changes the sound of the car. When I ran my HKS with my turbo setup it was almost completely silent like stock, so you most likely will not be able to replicate the same sound. I now have a single Apexi turbo muffler with 3" piping and I like the sound, but it sounds nothing like the HKS did.

There is no way to recreate the sound of the HKS exhaust on a stock car. I was disappointed in the tone after the turbo went on because it was like a low hum. It sounded like a different exhaust altogether. I now have the UR 3" dual exhaust and I still miss the HKS sound. Although I forget about it when I floor the accelerator
