Thumbs up How to......

Ive read on and on about breaking in new motors, but have yet to find it concerning a new turbo motor. What have u guys done on new boosted motors?

Ive read that in short, u basically just smash on motor, drain the oil after 50-200 miles and ur set....Any thoughts guys

I would definitely not "smash" on the motor from what I know and have learned I would keep the revs low for a few hundred miles and progressively raise them. While driving downhill i'd down-shift to get rpms up( dont go ape shit 5-6K should be more then enough) and create more vacuum i've heard from some builders that, that is the best way to seat rings. Best thing to do is ask your builder and if you built it yourself find a reputable builder and ask them. Thats just my .02, good luck.

Ive read a lot about where there talking about proper revs and what not..From what im read following the "factory standards" of breaking a motor can cause more problems. The biggest factor in this was the more WOT produces the proper ring break in etc...

This is the link i read, and found the most information out of all of them.

I've posted this before, but thats the same procedure I follow when breaking in my motors.

Don't "beat" on them, but drive it like you intend to.

I fire mine up, check for leaks/etc. Shut it down, swap the oil, and then get it immediately tuned. Break-in on the dyno.

Then once you have 500-1000 miles on it, go back for a power tune.

Thats worked for me in the past.
