Default How to Build a Turbo Kit On a Budget

So, I had a local member present a challenge to build a kit on a budget for mild performance at or near 300-350WHP using 91 octane at 8-10PSI.

So here is my list but I would love to see everyone else

Looks like a nice shopping list ..... cool project that can save you lots of $$ and get decent power!

How do you get a $30 home made TP?
- I'm asking because I need to make one to match my custom dpipe and the Greddy single 70mm cat back.

The 3-bolt flange alone is $35 from Berk, Couldn't find it cheaper.

For the dpipe you would need at least a couple of 304SS 45* mandrel bends and some straight sections, and a couple of flanges

Have you found a good, cheap supplier for stainless piping and 3-bolt flange that only Honda seems to like? do share

Well, I made one last week for $20 out of aluminized pipe with (2) O2 bungs and (2) Bolt flanges.

Basically I have been cutting off the Honda house flange and installing either a Vband or (2) bolt flange. In my system I used one Vband and the only connection is where the house flange used to be the front connection was eliminated. However, I am sure you could have a flange made at a local machine shop for $15-20 and then sell them to everyone that can't find them.

For the DP on the Greddy the shopping list was:

(2) 45 DEG 3" Sections-------------------------$70
(1) 2' Section of 304 3" pipe-------------------$20
(1/2) Vband-------------------------------------$25
(1) 3" x 8" Flex Coupling-----------------------$40
(1) 5 Bolt Flange--------------------------------$25
(1) 5 bolt Ovalized Pipe to adapter to 3"------$18
(2) O2 Bungs------------------------------------$8
================================
Total----------------------------------------------$206

Should we build you a new kit?

I think your just suffering from oppeator error, you need to call your tuner and tell them they suck?

^ Yep, that's pretty much what's on my list of parts to buy to make the dpipe.

I'll have to get the $35 flange from Berk to match the catback.

Gotta make some compromises for staying "CARB" *cough* legal. It sucks here in Calif.

Yes I struggled with that also but honestly feel it is a real number. Really it all depends on your perception of a complete jobs is, what you are willing to fabricate as well as what you may have lying around.

The other portion worth mentioning is that this is all 100% new, so all those bargain hunters will surely be able to kill that price.

for 300-350 whp you can just use a t3/t04e and save yourself 600 dollars. im about to start a similar project myself. 300-350 whp and keep it under the cost of a greddy kit but with reliable, proven parts. ive come out to around 3500 including shipping for everything.
